The BISSELL Little Green Carpet Cleaner or the “little green machine” has been in my life since as long as I can remember. As a kid I hated it, I was always sent to the basement to fetch it when something spilled and oh my was it so loud! Now I’m an adult–and boy do I love my little green machine.

What carpet cleaner to use
The little green cleaner comes with a small bottle of Bissell branded cleaner. I used this and it worked fine. I haven’t repurchase that and instead use my favorite carpet cleaner Folex. It typically comes in a spray bottle ,but I dump some straight into the tank and it works great. Really any thing made for a carpet cleaner should work just fine.
Cleaning Power
The little green cleaner can really clean almost anything. I’ve used it on carpets, area rugs, my couch, my upholstered head board, and my car upholstery. It has worked absolutely fantastically. It works so well I even use it on my washable rug, which if you read my review about that you know it’s super easy to clean. It’s just so much easier to use the little green than pulling up the rug to clean.
Carpeting and Area Rugs
For things like carpet and area rugs I use it just for spot cleaning. This is definitely not the tool you want for bigger projects. I did use it on an 8 foot by 2 foot runner rug once though, so if you are ambitious and don’t mind a sore back it’s versatility can be stretched.
Car Upholstery
Other good applications for this are a car. It works fantastically at the end of the summer to get out all the dirt and sand from a long adventurous summer full of sand and muddy paws.
Couches and other upholstered things
Last but not least I have used the little green machine to clean upholstery in my home. Smaller projects like refreshing my bed headboard have been made super easy. Then there is also the reason I bought this miracle machine in the first place; to clean the white couch I had to have but didn’t take into account how dirty it would get with a dog. I have now cleaned my couch probably three times in the year that I have had little green and it’s been a game changer. The couch always looks really good afterwards, not perfect ,but pretty darn near close.
User Experience
Using the little green couldn’t be easier. Just fill the clean tank add some solution, plug in and go. The handle has a trigger to spray the solution onto whatever are cleaning. Then you use the handle to suck up the water, just like a vacuum. It is a bit loud, but I wouldn’t say it’s any louder than a vacuum.
Cleaning the machine after use is also really easy. Just dump the grey water tank down the sink, give it a rinse, wind up the cord and hose, and you are good to go for the next time

Which model should you buy
There are a couple of different models of the little green. When I was shopping for mine I did some side by side comparison. One thing I noticed was that the pet deluxe version is exactly the same as the original. The only difference is the color of the machine, and the sample bottle of solution it comes with. Kinda weird right? I’ve also notice that typically the pet deluxe version is usually at least $20 more than the original version. At the time of writing this though it’s actually $3 cheaper. So I would just pick which everyone is cheaper.
The spot clean pet pro I can’t speak to how this one works as I have never used it. The additional features are that it has larger water tanks, and an additional cleaning tool special for pet related stains.
Lastly, there is the pet stain eraser. I had an older version of this when my dog was a puppy and I hated it. It was very leaky, the tank was small, and super difficult to clean. I haven’t used a newer version so I can’t speak to any upgrades. In my opinion though I would go with the original because you will be able to use it for so much more than cleaning up little accidents your pet may have.

I wouldn’t hesitate to make this purchase if it is something you are interested in. I have suggested this to multiple people from friends to coworkers who have all purchased it. They all reported back that they absolutely loved it and went on a cleaning spree after they got it.
