When I moved into my house I became obsessed with having a wreath on my door for every season, but gosh are they expensive. Despite the fact that I will not be home for Christmas this year I wanted to decorate my house for my friend that is going to be stying there. Also I love decorating and DIYing. Obviously or this blog wouldn’t exist. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to make a few decorations for the house before I left.
So with that I am going to show you how to make hands down the easiest most affordable Christmas / winter wreath. You’ll be able to see from the pictures, this is SO easy that I made this in bed…nothing like being comfortable while DIYing. All told this took me about an hour to make. If you are in need of some quick but super cute decor, this is the project for you.
Materials:
Metal wreath form
Spray paint
Two types of bulky yarn
Pom pom maker (optional but helpful)
Assembling the Wreath
The wreath form I bought was green. I started off by painting it a silvery color. This isn’t a necessary step but if any of the wreath form shows through it will be the color you want it.
While that is drying make your pom poms. I used a 3 ⅜ inch pom pom maker. I decided on a pattern as I went. In the end I used up two skeins of the cream color yarn and then only partial of the green. When I cut the poms off of the pom pom maker I left a tail of about 2 inches or so. This is so that I could tie it to the form.
Once the form is dry flip it over so that you are attaching the pom poms to the back side of the wreath form rather than the front. This gave the poms a little channel to sit into. Double knot the excess yarn you left to attach the pom to the form. Do this all the way around the form and that is it! You don’t even need to attach a hanger.
So simple and really cute. I did mine in a more wintery color palette so that I could use it all winter. Obviously you can do it in more Christmasy color or whatever you would like!
