Today I am going to review my new Revival washable rug. Washable rugs are all the rage these days, especially amongst those with animals and kid. The company that gets the most amount of talk is Ruggable. I love the idea, but when I saw a Ruggable in person I was less than impressed. It didn’t feel like a soft rug, to me a Ruggable feels more like a mat. So I went on the hunt for a durable, pet friendly, easily cleanable rug. Enter Revival washable rugs.
Revival is known mostly for selling high end and vintage rugs, but they also have a line of washable rugs. I was super interested in them as they came in a lot of neutral colors, and they tended to have more rugs with texture rather than a print. I was finding this particular combo of neutral color, no pattern hard to find in a rug that was affordable and cleanable.
If you are curious the exact rug I found can be purchased here. The one I have is Called “stripe” in an 8×10 size in the color taupe. I purchased it directly from the revival site, but right now while I’m writing this it looks like some variations you can get it for slightly cheaper on Amazon. So definitely check!

Why a washable rug
Backing this story up. I had purchased a beautiful looped wool rug. My house is a constant revolving door of dog guests, not to mention my dog Shaw. Over the year I had it, it shed and collected dust and dirt no matter how many times I vacuumed. It was looking rough. The final straw was one hot summer day when I was at work Shaw had some tummy issues, and let’s just say the rug was not salvageable. If you have dogs or kids it is really smart to think about function along with looks, I really hadn’t considered this when I bought my original rug. Live and learn I guess!
Return Policy
Since the wool rugs demise I have scoured the internet for a highly durable, and easily cleaned rug. I looked through probably thousands of rugs before landing on the revival washable rug. There aren’t many reviews out there for revival washable rugs so, especially in comparison to Ruggable, so I was a bit nervous to order. I decided to give it a try though after looking through their return policy. You have 30 days to return if you want your money back it is a $20 restocking fee. Returns are free if you take store credit. $20 seemed like not too big of a gamble especially since I was pretty sure I was going to like the rug. Plus shipping was free!
Pros
- Very plush
- Looks expensive
- Isn’t expensive
- Vacuums nicely
- Carpet cleaner works nicely on it
- Edges don’t curl up
- Corners lay flat
Cons
- It can have some ripples in it and look like it isn’t laying flat, but I don’t think this is too annoying
- There is a nap to to the rug so it can show foot prints/paw prints easily
In Depth Photos
I found it really hard to visualize exactly what the rug was going to look like before I purchased it. I though I would try to take as many close ups and variation so that hopefully it helps give a bette idea of what it will actually look like in person.

Rug Pad
Revival suggests that you use a rug pad with their washable rugs. It helps keep the rug from moving around and it protects your floor from getting scratched from the rough bottom of the rug. They sell a rug pad on their website, however I bought mine from Amazon for much cheaper. The one I purchased has a rubber bottom to help reduce slipping even more, with dogs running all over I thought this was a good feature for me to have in a rug pad. Check out the one I bought here. The rug pad did need to be cut a little down so it didn’t peak out from under the rug ,but that was super easy.

Cleaning your Revival washable rug
Not an hour after I got the rug down, my dog tracked dirt all over it. The rug was pretty much immediately put to the test. I have a Dyson cordless vacuum and it cleaned up the dirt no problem. Then a few days later I was cleaning my couch with the Little Green Machine from Bissel which you can read my review about here. I accidentally spilled the dirty water tank all over the rug. So I turned my focused to the rug and the rug cleaned up like a dream and looked good as new. I use Folex rug cleaner. Even without the Green Machine is a total miracle product, together there is no stain they can’t remove.
I have not yet tried to wash the rug in in the wash machine. For the 8×10 size I would need to bring it the laundry mat. Although with a good vacuum cleaner and the green machine carpet cleaner, it may never be actually necessary to put it in the washer.
Is a Revival washable rug right for you?
Do you have kids, pets, or high traffic areas? Do you like simple designs that focus more on texture rather than print? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions I have no doubt that you will love Revival’s rugs. They are good quality and despite being washable look more like a traditional rug, and are very soft under foot. I would definitely recommend. Finally, this is not a sponsored post nor does Revival know who little old me is, so you can be guaranteed that my opinion is genuine.
That being said some of the links are affiliate links and I could earn a tiny commission if you purchase using them.

Wow! Very thorough review. Checked out ALL your links. No doubt this looks like a great purchase to consider!
I just bought this exact rug and rug pad because of your review! I’m so excited!
Still enjoying this rug?
Hi Danielle!
Yes, I still love it. I just went back in my email to see how long I’ve had it and it’s been exactly a year. There is a little west in the highly trafficked area ,but nothing major. Still would 10/10 recommend.
