Hi again! Now that we’ve been officially introduced there’s nothing left to do but dive in!
As I mentioned, I had invested my money in the least pinterest worthy house ever but in my eyes it had potential and I was up for a challenge! I remember standing in each of the separate rooms dreaming up all of the ways I could make it my own. Ideas flooded my brain and filled board after board of my actual pinterest page. Looking back I would make seperate boards for each room to get a better idea of what I wanted in each room, but do as I say not as I do. The house, especially the yard, was a huge undertaking and quite honestly I didn’t know where to start.
Before I regale you the story of just how I got my humble beginnings as a homeowner/ DIYer extraordinaire, why don’t I just provide some context as to how my humble little home looked prior to its glow up…..

So as you can see, in the looks department it was about a 1/10 and I was just itching to turn my fixer upper into a palace fit for a king (and by king I mean Shaw, of course).
Prior to moving in I had the entire house painted and the bathroom retiled. In the spirit of honesty, I will admit that I paid someone to do the tiling work for me. While learning to tile is certainly on my homeowner “bucket list” I wasn’t quite ready to tackle it at the time though stay tuned…So I hired someone. Was it cheap, no but was it worth it…hell yeah. With my move in date quickly approaching I knew there was no way a tiling novice such as myself could quickly paint and tile on my own. I couldn’t risk a botched project and having to start over. So there you have it. The moral of the story is my first DIY wasn’t actually a DIY at all but it was a start. There would be, and still are plenty more projects to come. Even the most skilled and dedicated DIYers have to leave it to the pros from time to time!
Until next time!
